RULES AND PROCEDURES

JOSEPH’S GOAL (Registered Charity 1151548)

“ELITE CLUB” MONTHLY LOTTERY RULES & PROCEDURES

  1. The purpose of the Elite Club Lottery is to raise funds for Joseph’s Goal in order to provide funds for Non Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH) research in line with the charity’s constitution.

  2. The Elite Club Lottery will be operated under the Gambling Act 2005, which deals with private and small society lotteries. The promoter will be Alan Houghton, Chairman, under the direction of the Joseph’s Goal Trustees.

  3. The Trustees reserve the right to alter the rules of the Elite Club Lottery as may be necessary and a copy of any updated rules will be posted on the Joseph’s Goal website.

  4. The principle of the lottery is that 50 percent of the lottery income is distributed as prize money and 50 percent is retained by the charity to provide financial support as set out in point 1.

  5. All Elite Club members must be over 16 years of age.

  6. The Trustees reserve the right to refuse any application or terminate the membership of any member of the club at any time.

  7. Each Elite Club member will be allocated a membership number.

  8. Each Elite Club member must be fully paid up at least 7 days prior to the monthly draw to be included in that month’s draw.

  9. The promoter reserves the right to withdraw any lottery number where payment has not been received on time and to reallocate it at a later date.

  10. The subscription is £5 per month, payable either by monthly standing order before the 15th of each month, or by an upfront payment of £60 by cheque or £60 by bank transfer. The minimum commitment is 12 months.

  11. For illustration purposes, a fully paid membership of 600 members would generate £3,000 per month or £36,000 per year. Fifty percent would be distributed as prizes and fifty percent would be retained by the Joseph’s Goal charity.

  12. An example prize distribution for a 600 member base would include prizes of £400, £300, £250, £200, £150 and £100, plus four runners up prizes of £25 each. The promoter, under the direction of the Joseph’s Goal Trustees, reserves the right to amend the structure and distribution of the prize pool depending on the number of fully paid members.

  13. If a winner cannot be contacted, the winnings will be deemed a donation to the Joseph’s Goal charity after a period of six months.

  14. The lottery commenced in December 2020. The draw usually takes place in the last week of each month with appropriate independent verification and transparency. This process is managed by Fairhurst Accountants, whose partner Gary Edgerton is the Independent Examiner of the annual accounts submitted to the Charity Commission.

  15. Prizes will only be paid to fully paid members allocated the winning numbers and will be paid by bank transfer within seven calendar days of the draw.

  16. A list of monthly prize winners will be made available to all Elite Club members on the Joseph’s Goal website, Twitter and Facebook within 48 hours of the monthly lottery.

  17. Under no circumstances will any subscriptions be refunded.

  18. The promoter will give all Elite Club members one month’s notice in the event that a decision is taken by the Trustees to wind up the Elite Club.
